Plans are being finalized for the 2011 Baileyton Celebration, which will feature a variety of activities Sept. 8-11 on the grounds of Baileyton Elementary School.

The theme for this year's event is "Serving the Community."

The festivities will begin on Thursday, Sept. 8, at 6 p.m., with a beauty pageant for young ladies. Information about the pageant is available by calling 620-0152.

On Friday, Sept. 9, the activities will begin at 4 p.m. with arts & crafts booths opening and entertainment by Sandy's Karaoke Club.

At 6 p.m., a "Tour of Old Baileyton" will be held. Also at 6 p.m., a rook tournament, which is being sponsored by the 8th grade class of West Pines School, will begin in the Baileyton School gym.

PARADE PLANS

On Saturday, Sept. 10, a full slate of activities is planned.

Registration for the Quilt and Craft Show will begin at 8:30 a.m. that day, followed by the opening of the arts and crafts booths at 9 a.m.

At 10 a.m., the annual Baileyton Celebration Parade will begin.

This year's parade marshals will be Jayson Duncan, the National Ruritan Club president; Robert H. Bailey and Wayne Bettis, who are both former National Ruritan Club presidents, and members of the Baileyton Ruritan Club.

Other Greene County Ruritan Club members will also be participating in the parade.

Other parade participants will include members of area Shrine Clubs, beauty queens, local public officials, floats and many other entries.

There will be a $15 entry fee per float that is entered in the float competition. Prizes will be awarded for the top three floats, including $100 for first place, $75 for second, and $50 for third.

Other floats that are not entered in the competition will also be judged and awarded trophies for the top three positions.

Persons or organizations wishing to participate in the parade are asked to call 234-2524.

ENTERTAINMENT LINEUP

Beginning at noon on Saturday, the Baileyton Celebration's entertainment lineup will begin, weather permitting, on the outdoor stage.

In case of rain, the performances will be moved indoors to the Baileyton School auditorium.

Children's crafts will begin at 12:30 p.m. and a Corn Hole Tournament at 2 p.m.

Registration for the planned 5K Road Race will begin at 4 p.m., with the race to start at 6 p.m. Additional details about the road race are available by calling 234-7702.

At 7:15 p.m., the Celebration's organizing committee is planning a very special event -- the "Belton Royal Wedding."

A Street Dance for ages 18 and under will follow the "wedding" with DJ-spun music by B&M Enterprises. The dance will be held on Horton Highway in front of Baileyton Town Hall.

SUNDAY EVENTS

On Sunday, Sept. 11, the Celebration will continue, with booths opening at 9 a.m.

A Community Worship Service is planned for 11 a.m. with vocal performances by the New Victory Baptist Church Choir and, at 11:15 a.m., a spiritual message by Lester Morelock, pastor of New Victory Baptist Church.

An afternoon of gospel music will continue throughout the afternoon, concluding at 5:30 p.m.

A Cruise-In is also planned, beginning at 2 p.m. with awards scheduled for 4 p.m. Registration will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. and again from 12:30 to 2 p.m.

At 6 p.m., a Youth Rally is planned in the Baileyton School auditorium. Guest speaker will be Wade McAmis, with music provided by the Crossroads Band.

Refreshments will be served following the program.

2008 info.....

Again, we begin our Festival with the Miss Baileyton Beauty Pageant on Thursday night, September 4 at 6:00 p.m.   This is always a popular event and lots of pretty young girls descend on Baileyton!!   We are happy to have all of them.  Cost for being in the pageant is $35.00 each ($10.00 for Miss Photogenic) and you may contact Ms. Virginia Cooter for more information at 423.234.2091. Applications are available in Baileyton at Town Hall, Porter’s Grocery, on this website and Greene Bank.  Applications are also available at Comcast in Greeneville.

Friday events begin at 4:00 p.m. with the Food and Crafts booths opening on the Baileyton Elementary School grounds.   For information about booths, please contact Ms. Becky Neal at 423.234.9961.   Sandy’s Karaoke Club will be performing a 'Musical Medley'.  At 7:00 p.m., we have a talent show for youngsters 18 years and under.   You must audition for this on Monday night, 09-01-08 at 6:00 p.m. in the Baileyton School Auditorium.   

On Friday, the North Greene High School Volleyball Team will be sponsoring a volleyball tournament to begin on Friday at 4:00 p.m. and again on Saturday at noon.   Please contact Ms. Angie Beets at 423.329.9090 for information on this.

We will have our Cruise-In on Friday night.   Registration is from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and the viewing of the cars will be from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.   The winners will be announced and awards present at 7:30 p.m. on the stage.   For more information, please call Mr. J. Steven Broyles will be giving a Tour of Old Baileyton at 6:00 p.m.   The tour takes an hour or so and for those of you who have not been on this, you are in for a real treat.  

On Saturday morning, registration begins at 8:40 a.m. for the Quilt and Needlework show.   The show itself begins at 9:30 a.m. and prizes will be awarded in several categories.  For information on this, please contact Ms. Frances Sayler at 423.234.9741.

The Festival officially kicks off on Saturday morning with a Parade and this year’s Parade Marshal is our own North Greene High School Band with Mr. Scott Niswonger as the Honorary Parade Marshall.   The parade is great – if you come to see anything at the festival, this will be well worth your time.   Remember that all horses in the parade must have current coggins papers to participate in the parade.   This is a state regulation.   Please contact Ms. Lucille Pierce for information about an entry or parade information at 423.234.6221.   Following the Parade, there will be Opening Ceremonies and special guests will be recognized, Float awards presented and Antique Tractor Awards will be given.

There will be entertainment (singing and dancing) on stage from noon to 7:00 p.m.   Children’s crafts will be in the school yard at 12:30 p.m. and the Baileyton Alumni will hold its annual reunion at 2:00 p.m. in the School Auditorium.

At 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, the 5K Road Race will be run.  The course is certified and a favorite of many runners. Registration will begin at 4:00 p.m. at Town Hall, so put on those running shoes.  Awards in each age category and male/female trophies will be given after the race.   Please contact Ms. Diane McAmis at 423.234.7702 for more information on the road race.

Last on Saturday night will be the Street Dance.  All dancers must have photo ID and be 18 years of age and under.   Mobile Beats will be the DJ for the popular street dance!

On Sunday, September 9, food and craft booths will be open and at 11:00 a.m., the Good Neighbor Quartet  will sing and at 11:15 a.m., church services will be by Darren Crowder of Nashville, Tennessee..

All afternoon will be Gospel Music on stage. A complete list of singers will be announced at a later time.

To close out the Festival activities, Impact 4:12 will be performing at our Youth Rally.  

This is our 16th Annual Celebration at Baileyton.   Much work goes into the planning of this Festival and it is looked forward to by many each September!
